Understanding how unpredictable your life’s journey can be, I have made it my mission to walk with people through their own stories, guiding them towards healing, growth, and reconciliation. My desire to see people healed of past hurts and reconciled in their relationships drives the work I do.

Counseling approach:

Seeing the “big picture” in your own story can be difficult, making it hard to know what steps to take to move forward. Through conversations focused on getting to know you, your goals, and your struggles, I can provide an objective perspective and offer guiding insight on how to move forward into growth and healing. Whether you’re facing obstacles in your relationships, your organization, your own mental health, or anything in between, I utilize the unique foundational blocks of physiology, brain science, trauma, relationships, and spirituality to be a companion and guide.

Professional Background

Kevin started his formal education studying the natural sciences at Hope College. Upon taking his first psychology course, he fell in love with the social sciences, eventually earning a degree in Psychology. After several years of work in the Kent County child abuse and neglect system, Kevin pursued his Masters Degree in Community Counseling and Counseling Psychology through Western Michigan University. After finishing his graduate degree and becoming licensed as a Professional Counselor, he returned to working directly with clients, this time through private practice.

After 7 years as a partner in a local private practice, Kevin and his family were called to spend over two years living and working to build a school in rural Zambia. Upon returning from that assignment, Kevin returned to private practice, this time on his own as a solo practitioner. Over time, this practice grew and developed into West Michigan Wellness Group.

In addition to serving the community through counseling individuals and couples, teaching, training and coaching organizations, Kevin remains involved in the community, using his gifts to serve other ministries and organizations. Kevin, his wife, and 4 children enjoy travel, water sports, skiing, hiking and experimenting with their small hobby farm.
