Ted + Joe Newhof Counseling fund

Christian counseling
The Ted and Joe Newhof Memorial Counseling Fund was established in 2020 by the Newhof family in honor of their two sons who were lost to addiction.  Since then, many other individuals, families and churches have joined the cause and contributed generously to the “TJN” Fund.  Corinth Reformed Church serves as the fiduciary for the Fund, receiving all donations and distributing them upon request to support the counseling needs of clients receiving care at West Michigan Wellness Group.

TJN fund and WMWG Partnership

WMWG is a fee-for-service counseling practice, which allows clients and therapists to work together to formulate a plan of support based on each clients’ needs and in accordance with their own beliefs and values.  Some clients (including individual children, teens and adults, couples or families) are not able to afford the full cost of counseling, so the TJN Fund offsets those costs, ensuring that everyone is able to receive the same level of care regardless of their financial situation.  Clients are asked to contribute as much as they are able, therapists reduce the rate for all subsidized cases, and the Fund supplements the difference to keep the effort sustainable.

Over the past 5 years, WMWG has seen considerable growth in the demand for counseling services and, with that, the amount of support requests received.  To date, we have been able to serve all who seek counseling without turning anyone away on the basis of their ability to pay in full.  As the needs of our community grow in number and complexity, and more and more individuals, couples and families seek out counseling for support and care, the need for additional funding partners grows commensurately.
